Mechanized Circularity & The "Dual-Battery" Bio-Fertilizer

MLC Voyager | Seven Lakes Green Solutions PLC

Seven Lakes transforms methane-emitting urban waste into high-performance "Dual-Battery" bio-fertilizer granules to restore Ethiopia’s 41% acidic highlands. Seven Lakes’ industrialized circular hub provides 15 million smallholders with a 14-day drought safety net and a 40% cost saving over synthetic imports, bridging the gap between urban pollution and rural food sovereignty.

3,500 Lives Impacted

Seven Lakes’ innovation delivers a "Triple-Win" impact for the bottom of the pyramid. For rural smallholders living on less than $5.50/day, they provide a validated 15% yield boost and a 40-60% reduction in seasonal input costs. This directly increases household disposable income, allowing families to invest in education and healthcare instead of expensive chemical imports. In terms of climate resilience, their granules act as "Drought Insurance," providing a 14-to-20-day survival buffer during dry spells that would otherwise result in total crop failure and aid dependency.

On the urban front, Seven Lakes have formalized the hazardous work of 125 marginalized youth and women waste-pickers at the Bishoftu landfill into safe, contracted "Green Jobs" with verifiable digital incomes.

Key milestones include securing Ethiopia's first historic $74,000 collateral-free climate loan from the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia and earning provisional accreditation from the United Nations (UNCCD). Each of their hubs abates ~50,000 tons of CO2 annually by stopping the methane "fuse" at landfills, transforming an environmental liability into a national asset for soil restoration and planetary cooling.

The Innovation

Seven Lakes has engineered a sophisticated circular loop that moves faster than nature. Their industrial hub operates with two technical wings: a "Biological Machine" utilizing Black Soldier Fly (BSF) larvae to rapidly stabilize waste into high-NPK frass, and high-speed horizontal fermenters that mature organic matter in days. These outputs are fused using their patented granulation technology (ET UM1198B1) into standardized, machine-ready granules.

The core differentiator is Seven Lakes’ Proprietary Hygroscopic Biopolymer Matrix (HBM)—a "Water Battery" that harvests moisture from night dew and holds 500L/kg. This allows Seven Lakes to deliver standardized, drought-proof nutrients at an industrial scale (2 Tons/Hour) previously impossible for organic fertilizers. Scalability is driven by their AI-Logistics "Agri-Circular Hub," which digitizes decentralized sourcing and provides precision advisory to the "last mile." Following their bank-validated Bishoftu flagship launch, Seven Lakes are executing a "Hub-and-Spoke" blueprint to replicate this model across five regional corridors. Seven Lakes’ vision is to serve as Africa’s "Export Enabler," helping smallholders meet the strict EU "Net-Zero" standards required for premium global markets.
