MLC Voyager | MedBrain Global
MedBrain is an offline, AI-powered clinical assistant that enables frontline health workers in low-resource settings to diagnose and manage patients as accurately as specialist doctors.
Already implemented in 50 health centers in Ethiopia, with expansion underway in both Ethiopia and Nigeria, MedBrain aims to reach 10 million people by 2026. With clinical accuracy validated in government trials and a scalable model, it offers a transformative solution to the global diagnostic gap.
115,000 Lives Impacted
MedBrain is transforming healthcare delivery in underserved communities by equipping frontline health workers with reliable, AI-powered diagnostic support. As a smart clinical assistant, MedBrain guides healthcare professionals through structured clinical interviews and focused physical examinations, enabling them to deliver accurate diagnoses and personalized treatment plans—even in the absence of specialist doctors or diagnostic labs.
In just 11 months of use across 50 rural health centers in Ethiopia, MedBrain has enabled the diagnosis and management of an estimated 115,000 patients, primarily women and children. With its full offline functionality and near zero marginal cost, MedBrain is scalable, accessible via any basic smartphone, and particularly suited to low-resource settings. Backed by clinical trials in Ethiopia and Nigeria, it has shown diagnostic accuracy rates of 85%–92%, on par with senior specialists.
By 2026, MedBrain will be deployed in 1,000 primary care centers in both Ethiopia and Nigeria—potentially reaching over 1 million patients monthly. This expansion is poised to reduce mortality through early diagnosis and referral, build capacity among primary care providers through hands-on training, reduce unnecessary hospital visits, and empower ministries of health with actionable public health analytics. MedBrain is rapidly becoming one of Africa’s most impactful digital health innovations.
The Innovation
MedBrain is a diagnostic copilot that empowers frontline health workers in low-resource settings to deliver accurate diagnoses and treatment plans without needing access to specialists or expensive diagnostic tools. Delivered as a lightweight smartphone application that works fully offline, MedBrain guides users through a dynamic clinical interview and physical examination. By analyzing the patient’s symptoms in real-time, it asks fewer than 15 adaptive questions before generating a top-3 differential diagnosis and a personalized, step-by-step management plan.
MedBrain is currently implemented in 50 public primary care centers in Ethiopia, where it has already supported an estimated 115,000 patients. With agreements signed for national expansion, by 2026 MedBrain will reach 1,000 health centers in Ethiopia — which are responsible for 64 million patients. MedBrain has demonstrated a high diagnostic accuracy (85%–92%) in government-led clinical trials and requires only 1 day of training for health workers.
What makes MedBrain unique is its combination of clinical rigor, usability in low-bandwidth settings, and real-time guidance aligned with national treatment guidelines. Its zero marginal cost model and ultra-fast learning curve makes it highly scalable. Future plans include integrating advanced analytics for public health monitoring and partnering with additional LMIC governments to replicate its success across Africa and Asia.
